Oxygen and Life

The most vital element on earth is oxygen. Without it, human life simply could not exist.
About 90% of the body's life energy is created by oxygen. Our eliminative processes
consume large amount of oxygen to rid our bodies of waste and toxins.

In the early days of the earth, there was little oxygen in the atmosphere, and the ozone
layer which is essential for life did not exist. It took billions of years for the primitive
photosynthetic organisms in the sea to fill the atmosphere with oxygen and prepare the
earth for animals.

Today, about 23% of the air is oxygen. However, oxygen content is much lower in the
urban areas -as low as 15% in some cities-, and it is getting lower year by year due to
polution and devastation of forests.
