Oxygen and Skin

Our skin is in constant need for oxygen, just as our bodies are. Like all living entities,
your skin needs oxygen to survive, reproduce, and regenerate healthy tissue.

Medical science has demonstrated that the most common cause in the aging process
is Oxygen Deficiency. When our skin is subjected to insufficient oxygen, it shows results
such as reduced cellular activity, premature aging, loss of firmness, and pale, waxen
complexion.

Our skin tissue looses about 65% of its oxygen level by the age of 30. Oxygen is
transported to the dermal layers of the skin by your blood vessels (vascular system).
In younger skin this process is very efficient, but as we age, the micro-capillaries
degenerate so that our skin does not receive the proper nourishment that it requires.

As a result, cellular metabolism and turnover slows down, collagen and elastin content
are reduced, causing fine lines, discoloration, and wrinkles to appear. Thus, epidermis
cellular renewal becomes heavily dependent on external oxygen as we grow older:
Our skin needs an extra supply of oxygen to stay young and healthy.
